Collaborative Response to BC Society Act Consultation
BCNPHA members are aware that a group of Non-Profits have been working on a joint submission to the Ministry of Finance regarding the Society Act review. We owe a debt of gratitude to Margaret Mason from Bull, Housser & Tupper who took a lead role in helping to inform a number of us on the legal issues and who drafted the initial document on which this is based.
This is the most current version of this submission, including 26 initial respondents reflecting a range of leading not-for-profit organizations and supporters. As mentioned before in our process, this list is in no way intended to be exhaustive or representative, but is simply a starting point to help ensure a strong voice. For those that are interested in adding your organization to the list of supporters of the messages from this document, we hope to have a growing list on the website www.yourtake.ca, or representatives may contact a general e-mail address at vcf@vancity.com to indicate their support. Alternatively you may e-mail BCNPHA at admin@bcnpha.ca, and add your support through us and we will ensure that your agency name is added to the list. We also have no problem with you taking elements of the submission and re-crafting them into your own submission, although, a unified voice may have more strength. We remind you that the deadline for submissions is April 1, 2010.
