On July 4th, CMHC announced a new Federal / Provincial / Territorial Framework for Affordable Housing, in place for 2011 - 2014.

According to preliminary results of the 2011 Metro Vancouver Homeless Count released on May 24, 2011, programs to provide low barrier shelter and longer term supportive and affordable housing are having a positive impact for homeless people across the region.

BC Housing would like to let you know of several changes taking place in its senior executive team. Craig Crawford will be stepping in as Acting Vice President of Operations for the next six months following the departure of Margaret McNeil. Armin Amrolia, Executive Director Regional Development, will be assuming Craig's responsibilities in Development Services on an interim basis. 

Rental housing, including non-profit housing, is a critical part of the British Columbia housing system. Non-profit housing societies are providers of affordable rental housing for those with low incomes.

The Rental Housing Supply Coalition (of which BCNPHA is a member) has issued a letter to the leaders of the Federal political parties, urging action to address the critical shortage of affordable rental housing in Metro Vancouver and across the nation.

BCNPHA is pleased to announce that the Pooling for Increased Earnings (PIE) account pool is now over $80 million! PIE turns numerous non-profit society accounts into one large depositor, making accounts eligible for higher interest rates.
