Ready, Set, Build!
After the business plan and needs assessment, what's next? In this one-day course, a BCNPHA facilitator will outline the development process and explore using the market to create affordable housing. You will learn about:
- The key elements of an effective funding proposal
- What to expect at each stage of housing development
- What development approach makes sense for your society or community
- The roles and responsibilities of key players in the development process
- How to assemble a cross-sectoral development team that will deliver a well-built project that meets the needs of your society and its client group(s)
- Ways to create affordable housing outside of traditional government programs
- Keys to successful partnerships
- CMHC's Seed Funding program
Workshop facilitation and instructor expenses are covered through the generous support of Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation. (A nominal registration fee per person will be applied; 10 participants minimum required.)

- September 17, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm - Lynn Valley Library Community Meeting Room, 1277 Lynn Valley Road, North Vancouver. Register online to pay by cheque or credit card using the secure PayPal system. Registration fees: $22 for BCNPHA members; $44 for non-members. Fees include HST. Note: light refreshments will be served; however lunch is not included. Workshop limited to 40 participants, so register early! Registration deadline is September 13.
- October 4, 1 pm to 7 pm - Aurora Apartments, 1328 102nd Avenue, Dawson Creek. Register online to pay by cheque or credit card using the secure PayPal system. Registration fees: $22 for BCNPHA members; $44 for non-members. Fees include HST. Note: refreshments and a light dinner are included. Workshop limited to 20 participants, so register early! Registration deadline is September 27.
- November 24 - Richmond (at the BCNPHA Conference). Register online.
