M11: Mission Driven – Canada’s Non-Profit Labour Force

Over the past three years, the Human Resources Council for the Voluntary and Non-profit Sector has done comprehensive research that provides a foundation for employers, employees, organized labour, funders, policy-makers, boards, and researchers to work together to ensure that Canada’s non-profits continue to have the talent they need to do their vital work. This workshop will provide information about the HR Council’s work and labour force initiatives that are under way across the country.

M12: Housing Conditions for Immigrants and Refugees – Implications of a Neighborhood Study for Housing and Settlement Service Providers

This workshop provides an opportunity for housing service providers and immigrant service providers to discuss issues that immigrants and refugees face in housing and hidden homelessness.

M13: Beating Bed Bugs

Come to this session to learn about:

  • The basic biology of bed bugs;
  • How to spot the signs of bed bugs and how they spread;
  • Bites / health concerns / disease;
  • Challenges in solving bed-bug problems; and
  • New tools and techniques.

A BC Housing representative will also discuss what they are doing with existing housing stock to manage bed bugs, including the renovations of single-room-occupancy housing (SROs).
