bullet Occupiers Liability Act
Landlords have a "duty of care" under this BC Act. If a person, or their property, is injured or damaged on the premises, the society can be sued. See especially Section 3, subsections 1 and 2, which states that the "occupier" must take "reasonable care" to see that the person and property of a person on the premises will be "reasonably safe" with regard to:
  • Condition of the premises
  • Activities on the premises
  • Conduct of third parties on the premises.
